Hong Kong: Diana Schneider defeated British player Katie Boulter 6-1, 6-2 to win the WTA Hong Kong Open title. Top seeded Schneider, ranked 14th in the world, won her fourth title of the season with titles at the Bad Homburg Open in Germany, the Hua Hin Championship in Thailand and the Budapest Grand Prix in Hungary.
After the title win, the 20-year-old Russian player said, “I feel like I was at a high level. Of course, I am happy and proud of the way I am competing.” Boulter, seeded second and trying to win her third title of the season, said about this tough match, “I wanted to give my best. But it was not enough.”
